The terms “fobs” and “tags” are often used interchangeably when referring to electronic access devices. We use the term fob to describe a device that has buttons to do different things, such as one button opening the gate to the property and another opening an individual garage door.
We use the term tag for devices that have no buttons and open one or multiple doors, depending on the programming.
Fobs and tags offer a tremendous convenience for both users and administrators. Similar to key cards, fobs and tags can be programmed quickly for new users, as replacements, or to revoke further access.
With their popularity, new styles are frequently on the market, and some new fobs can be programmed to work with existing access control systems.
